Introduction to Herbal Medicine

This CPD course is designed for health practitioners who want to learn more about Western Herbal Medicine. It will include profiles of herbs for various organs and body systems and will outline the contra-indications, main constituents and average dosage.
You will also learn about the character of each herb and the body type or constitution to which it is best suited. Many herbs have metaphysical uses and these will be given when appropriate.
Participants will learn various methods of administering herbs-tinctures, infusions, decoctions, oils, powders, creams, compresses etc. You will also have the opportunity to try, without obligation many of the herbs. The course will be supported by printed profiles of each herb, slides and when possible herb walks.
This course is taught over six weekends approximately one weekend per month over a six month period.
Course includes:
- Herbs for the Nervous System, Digestive System, Lymphatic System, Immune System, Cardiovascular and Hormonal System.
- A variety of symptoms and illnesses will also be covered and the herbs that can be used to support recovery.
Please note that this course does not lead to a qualification in Herbal Medicine, it is designed to assist complementary therapists in their use of herbal medicines.
