Therapies and Stress
What are the symptoms of stress?
Depending on the type of stress you are under you may suffer from a range of emotional and physical reactions including Mental Exhaustion, Aggression, Irritability, Tearfulness, Depression, Muscle tension, Insomnia, Chest pain, Headaches, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Back pain, Shallow breathing and skin conditions such as Eczema.
What causes stress?
Too much change in your life in a short space in time can be a major cause of stress. There are several social changes in life that are regarded as causing high stress levels, such as a bereavement, divorce, getting married, a change in job, pregnancy, financial problems and disagreements with your boss or work colleagues.
Drinking too much tea, coffee and alcohol, smoking and lack of exercise can aggravate the situation.
How can Complementary Therapies help me cope with stress?
Being stressed can often mean that you find very little time for yourself. A complementary therapy treatment gives you the time to relax away from your worries in life. Deep breathing exercises along with a soothing massage help to reduce anxiety levels, ease muscle tension and lift your mood if you are feeling depressed.
During an aromatherapy massage for example a blend of essential oils can be created to get right to the heart of your symptoms to balance out your hormone levels and lift your mood, leaving you feeling relaxed and reenergized at the end of the session.
While complementary therapies can’t take the stress away they will help you to feel calm and in control of your life and allow you to think clearer about the direction you need to take in life.
