Why 'Amitayus'?
In Buddhism, the Buddha Amitayus (or Amida) accepts all people regardless of one's religion or background. He is said to be always at work transforming things for the better.
We felt it was therefore an appropriate reference, as we aim to help people transform themselves and achieve wellbeing, without judgment and regardless of background.
The symbol of the Lotus flower was chosen as our company logo because as well as representing healing and rejuvenation, the Lotus stands as a symbol for pure intentions of all activities. At Amitayus we believe in being open and honest with our clients.
The Lotus flower is of importance in the Hindu, Buddhist, Islamic and Ancient Egyptian religions, and as such can be used as an interfaith symbol, celebrating what the world's faiths and communities have in common, despite their differences. The Lotus is a type of water lily, which rises from muddy waters to bloom, making it a symbol of purity of the soul within the material world, and an emblem of growth, resurrection or healing.
Despite the religious background of these symbols, we are not a religious organisation. We fully respect the individual views and beliefs of our clients. Indeed, our therapists have a variety of different beliefs. All are accepted as they are. Our only concern is your wellbeing.
An important part of the wellbeing of the individual is the wellbeing of the community that the individual belongs to. That's why we're committed to not just serving our communities' needs for health and wellbeing, but working as active members of our community. As such we aim to increasingly involve ourselves with working with the diverse backgrounds of our community to increase understanding, tolerance and respect. Whether the differences in our communities are those of faith, age, race, sexuality, etc. we actively encourage acceptance and working together to build a better and healthier community for us all and welcome ways in which we can assist in this.
