Health & Wellbeing For All

News

3rd July 2010

Our Strawberry Tea fundraiser for Breast Cancer Care, held on Saturday 3rd July, was a great success! There were fresh strawberries, a wide variety of strawberry cakes, teas including specialty strawberry herbal teas, taster sessions of various complementary therapies, and visitors enjoyed browsing the shop, relaxing in the Garden and having a good chat. In the process we raised over £270 for Breast Cancer Care!

The day also saw the official launch of a Breast Cancer Support Group to be ran from the Amitayus Wellbeing centre. This is the first project of the newly established Social Enterprise 'Amitayus Healthy Living Ltd'. (Click here to learn more about this Social Enterprise). A seperate raffle to kick start funds for this project raised over £70. We also recruited various volunteers to help facilitate the group, which we are hoping will become fully active in the Autumn. Please get in touch with us if you'd like to join the group in any capacity.

We would like to thank all the fantastic people that helped to support the event, particularly as partners Dawn and Garry were unable to attend due to the premature birth of their twins. Thanks to everyone who turned up to enjoy the event. We look forward to welcoming you all back soon.

Hard work pays off as we become finalists in the 2009 Godiva Awards

23rd October 2009

We were honoured to make it into the final four in the Best Business category of the Godiva Awards 2009. Unfortunately we didn't take a prize at the awards but we're so pleased to have been given the chance to get so close, not even two years in to our business. We also came in the top four under the Health and Fitness category for which we are very grateful to all the people who supported us by voting both online and by paper. We were the only business in North Warwickshire to have been short-listed for an award.

The Godiva Awards promote and reward excellence in Coventry and Warwickshire and have become the leading event in the region recognising businesses with creativity, flair, ingenuity and commitment. The awards will open again next spring and we hope to be nominated again.

Help us support the Circles Network with our open day fundraiser on Saturday 15th November!

25th April 2009

On Saturday 25th April we celebrated our first year in business with an Open Day in support of Acorns. There were taster treatments available throughout the day along with tea, home-made cakes and a raffle. We were delighted to raise approximately £450.00, which is roughly the cost of running one bed a day at one of Acorns three children’s hospices.

Amitayus Wellbeing responded to Acorns Children’s Hospice Fragile Lives Appeal launched in March that aims to see the charity through the current recession and protect its vital care and support services that become a lifeline for local people. Fragile Lives offers the chance for everyone in the community to get involved with fundraising to help Acorns. Whether you are a business or an individual you can get involved and make a real difference to the lives of children who live with a life limiting illness. For more information call 08451206892 or visit www.acorns.org.uk. Mike Tague, regional fundraising manager at Acorns said: “Amitayus’ help couldn’t have come at a better time for Acorns. We really appreciate all that they are doing to help Acorns increase its awareness in the local community and help to raise vital funds.”

We are planning further fundraising activities for Acorns throughout the year. Please call 01827 719926 for more info.

Help us support the Circles Network with our open day fundraiser on Saturday 15th November!

17th October 2008

We will be raising funds for local charity “Circles Network” on Saturday 15th November, 10am until 3pm, with a special Open Day. Join us for taster treatments, workshops, tea and mince pies!

All funds raised from treatments and refreshments will go to the Circles project ‘Taking the Reins’. This Equine Facilitated Learning Programme is designed to help disabled and disadvantaged children to improve their self awareness and self-esteem. The project has already had positive results with children with a range of problems including Anorexia, Depression, ADHD, and Autism. Taking the Reins develops a range of skills in the children over a course of sessions and the end result is that the children are able to walk a horse single handed in a round pen. Please help us support this very worth-while charity. All our welcome!

Customers of the clinic have being finding extra relaxation courtesy of mother nature in our Garden of Peace and Reflection. Exclusively for the use of clients either before or after their therapy/treatment, the garden provides a place of beauty, ideal for enjoying a herbal tea or cool filtered water. At the moment it is bursting into life as it soaks up the rays of its south facing aspect. We are discovering a legacy of careful nurturing from Lilly of the Valley, to Roses, Strawberries and Clematis.
