About Us
Amitayus Wellbeing is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all, throughout our community. We believe in working with, not as an alternative to, mainstream healthcare to promote the wellbeing of all aspects of the individual.
Our team of expert therapists work out of our clinic in Atherstone, Warwickshire, to provide a full range of complementary therapies including massage, physiotherapy, acupuncture, herbal medicine and more. We also sell and advise on health foods, vitamins and supplements, natural skincare, special dietary needs (such as wheat free, gluten free and dairy free) and many other aspects of wellbeing.
We also provide training, support and education for our community and for professional therapists wanting to improve their skills. Whether it's support groups for women fighting breast cancer, meditation classes for people seeking to make space for harmony in their stressful lives, or an introductory course for therapists wanting to learn more about herbal medicine, we strive to support you all.
Business Structure
Amitayus Wellbeing was first established as a partnership by founders Dawn and Garry Hart in April 2008. In 2010 Amitayus Healthy Living Limited was also set up as a not for profit Social Enterprise committed to providing targeted wellbeing via specific community projects. By maintaining the partnership, the Social Enterprise benefits from being free from the usual commitments of a business and can therefore concentrate on providing for sectors of our community that might not otherwise easily access wellbeing and healthy living services.
What is a Social Enterprise?
The UK government defines social enterprises as "businesses with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners."
In other words any profits generated by Amitayus Healthy Living Limited (as opposed to Amitayus Wellbeing partnership) have to go back into the Social Enterprise and not to shareholders or business owners as dividends or excessive bonuses. But unlike a charity a Social Enterprise has to be self sustaining and generate the funds to keep itself going in its social aims. Although it can still benefit from accessing various types of funding to help achieve its social objective. The aim of Amitayus Healthy Living Limited is to improve the health and wellbeing of our community by targeting specific needs in focussed projects.
What are the social projects of Amitayus Healthy Living Limited?
Upcoming projects include a breast cancer support group, Healthy Living Days (events to inform and promote healthy living in our community), various educational courses and more is planned! If you would like to help support Amitayus Healthy Living in whatever way you can, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We can always use the help of volunteers, business sponsorship or just help by taking part.
